Michael Barton is the senior vice president and general manager of Apparel Solutions, Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS) for Avery Dennison Corporation. He was appointed to this position on January 1, 2022, after serving as vice president and general manager, Global Commercial for RBIS since 2015.
In this role, Mr. Barton is responsible for leading the worldwide Apparel strategy, and executing and delivering on the business objectives for the division. He is accountable for the division’s core business functions, including commercial, operations, innovation, finance, human resources, legal, and information technology.
Additionally, Mr. Barton serves as the lead for the company’s North America DE&I initiative, partnering with leaders across divisions to achieve Avery Dennison’s North America DE&I goals. He also serves as a Trustee for the Avery Dennison Foundation and serves on the internal audit committee.
Prior to becoming vice president and general manager, Global Commercial, Mr. Barton served from 2014 to 2015 as vice president of Commercial, Global Performance, RBIS. Before 2014, he held several senior leadership roles across Avery Dennison RBIS, after joining as part of the Paxar acquisition, where he had worked since 1995.
Mr. Barton earned a B.A. in Communications from Texas A&M University.
